Finance Ministry says World Bank didn’t purchase vehicles for Interior

The Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs is receiving reports regarding the purchase of vehicles for the Ministry of Interior from World Bank budget support funds reported in the Point Newspaper.

In light of this, the general public is hereby informed that the purchase of the vehicle for the government institutions, particularly the procurement of vehicles for the security sector is funded from government resources.

Please be informed that the World Bank has not funded the purchase of vehicles for the security sector, contrary to rumors circulating in town.

On the state of the economy, we are currently working with our development partners to address our development challenges particularly in the area of energy, agriculture, health, security amongst others.

At this point, we would like to bring to the attention of the general public the recent improvements in the macroeconomic situation ranging from declining inflation, improving reserve position, falling interest rates and most importantly a promising tourist season in 2017/18.
