Finance DPS: climate change poses risk to sustain poverty reduction

The deputy permanent secretary at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs has affirmed that climate change and more frequent droughts pose serious risk to sustaining poverty reduction and broader development goals.

Yaya Drammeh who officially declared a daylong stakeholder consultative meeting opened as the government seeks to implement a Readiness Support Project aimed to enhancing the capacities of National Designated Authority (NDA), acknowledged that this was particularly important for The Gambia.

The government of The Gambia has designated the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs through the Budget Directorate as National Designated Authority to the Green Climate Fund (GCF) which is the current funding mechanism created to support the adaptation and mitigation activities of parties to the convention.
