Farafenni Marathon donates over D250, 000 to Farafenni General Hospital

The Farafenni Marathon Committee on Sunday 3rd December 2017 donated medical and other household items to the Farafenni General Hospital to the tune of over GMD250,000.

The donation was made during the adoption ceremony of the Surgical Ward of the hospital by the marathon committee held at the hospital conference hall in Farafenni

The donated items include syringes, drainage bag, NG tubes, two flat screen television sets, disposal cups, 20 plastic buckets,24 plastic chairs, ceiling fans among others.

The items were bought from proceeds of the annual Farafenni marathon runs and also contribution from the YKJ security company based in UK, which is its main sponsor.

In receiving the items, the Governor of NBR, Ebrima Dampha, commended the committee for complementing government’s efforts in attaining quality health delivery to the population.

He urged other groups to emulate the marathon committee.

Governor Dampha called for unity among the population as there could not be any meaningful development without unity.

The CEO of the hospital, Wandipha Samateh, said this was not the first time the donors were coming to their aid. He promised them that the donated items would be put to good use.

Malang Camara, who spoke on behalf of the marathon committee, said they are proud to be associated with the hospital and would continue to support them.

Other speakers on the occasion included Alieu K. Jammeh and Sainey Dibba, the hospital PRO.
