Fagbenle appointed CJ, Justice Mbai president of Appeal Court

Reliable sources have informed this paper that Justice Emmanuel Fagbenle, president of the Gambia Court of Appeal, was yesterday appointed the new Chief Justice of The Gambia.

He replaced Justice Ali Nawaz Chowhan, who was sacked on Tuesday.

In the same vein, sources confirmed to this paper that Justice Edrissa Fafa M’bai, who was removed recently as a high court judge, has been reappointed as acting president of the Gambia Court of Appeal.

When contacted, Justice M’bai confirmed his appointment, saying: “I have received my appointment letter as acting president of The Gambia Court of Appeal.”

It would be recalled that Justice M’bai has served in various capacities in the judiciary.
