Ex Health minister appointed ambassador to Morocco

Wednesday, August 29, 2018

Saffie Lowe Ceesay, the former minister of Health and Social Welfare has been appointed the new Gambian ambassador to the Republic of Morocco, replacing Bakary Jarju, who has been recalled after fighting with a staff.

Mrs. Lowe was hit by President Adama Barrow’s first major Cabinet’s reshuffle in June 2018. The communications officer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad, Saikou Ceesay, has confirmed the development to our reporter.

The former Health minister, he said, got her appointment effective last month. “However, we are yet to receive her confirmation letter from the host country Morocco.” Quizzed whether any disciplinary action (s) has been taken against the former Gambian ambassador to Morocco, he said he was not aware of any charge sheet that has been pressed against Jarju.
