Gambia Football Federation Secretary General Kebba Yerro Manneh passed away yesterday after a protracted
Mr. Manneh was Secretary General of the then GFA from 1991-1993 under former President Babou Ceesay. He was also the first Secretary General from the provinces heralding a regional representation of Football in The Gambia.
He is credited for his clarion calls for all inclusiveness of general stakeholder participation hence his doctrine of decentralization of Gambian Football.
During his reign as SG at the Football House, the first seminar on club management was just about to kick-off when former government Youth and Sports Minister Buba Baldeh dissolved the ExCO and stagnated his efforts to continue the management policies he spearheaded.
From schools with his background as a former teacher, Mr. Manneh was a strong campaigner for school football. According to him, talents are abounding at the schools that could be the future of Gambian Football.
Born in Kesser Kunda in the Lower Fulladu West, KYM and family later moved to Janjangbureh where he stayed until his finally moved to Latrikunda Sabiji. He is a grandson of Musa Molloh and prides himself of an Armitage ex-pupil.
Gambia Football Federation President Lamin Kaba Bajo said Gambian Football has lost another beacon. ‘’Kebba Yerro was another trailblazer in Football administration and has contributed massively to where we found ourselves in Football today,” Kaba said.
