English League Two club sign Gambian midfielder

English League Two side, Morecambe FC has snatched the services of Gambian midfielder Lamin Jagne.

The 20-year-old, who came through the Development Centre based at The Manchester College, played as a trialist where he impressed for the Shrimps’ reserves.

Lamin signed on a free transfer after leaving the U18 side of Championship club Preston North End.

Bill Prendergast, who runs the Centre in Manchester, praised the club’s new signing and has tipped him for greatness.

He said: “Lamin’s been in the professional game previously and came to me a few years ago. He’s physically able and can definitely compete technically.”

Jagne, born in England but eligible for the Scorpions, said: “I’m really pleased to sign. I’d like to thank everyone who helped me throughout this journey and thanks to the Manager, Jim Bentley, for putting his trust in me.”

Morecambe Football Club, plying in the fourth-tier of English football, plays their matches at the 6476-capacity Globe Arena in Lancashire, the north west of England.
