ECREEE Boss Mahama Kappiah wins Green Future Leadership Award

The executive director of the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency ECREEE, Mr. Mahama Kappiah, has been awarded the Green Future Leadership Award. 

Mr. Kappiah received the award at the Africa Green Future Leadership Awards ceremony held in Mauritius on Wednesday 6TH December 2017. The Award was presented by the WORLD CSR DAY and the STARS OF THE INDUSTRY GROUP. The strategic partners are the CMO ASIA & WORLD HRD CONGRESS. According to the awardees, the merit is conferred on “Outstanding professionals who have the vision, flair, acumen and professionalism to demonstrate excellent Leadership and Management skills in an organisation, making changes and achieving results.”

The decision to honour Mr. Kappiah was taken by the WORLD CSR DAY and the STARS OF THE INDUSTRY GROUP’s Research Cell, which seeks guidance from independent and voluntary professionals on a regular basis. Mr. Kappiah was found to be exceptionally competent and deserving of the GREEN FUTURE LEADERSHIP AWARD for his great job in making a difference in the lives of many people.

According to the Africa Green Future Leadership Awards, the criteria for awarding the honour was  “Those who can make a difference to the lives of others are chosen, for the quality of their work, global reach and outlook and ability to contribute value of social change. Change can be quantified - especially since it impacts the lives of many. If it does then it is positive change…”

The Green Future Leadership Award is about achievers and leaders who can make a difference to the lives of others, as a result of the quality of their work, global reach and outlook and ability to contribute value of social change. Such changes can be quantified since they impact the lives of many in a positive manner.

Some of the criteria taken in consideration to attribute the Green Future Leadership Award include: the ability to resolve existing social, cultural, economic and environmental challenges; the capacity to merge perspectives to spark new ways of thinking; the creation, development, adoption, and integration of new concepts; and underlying magic to social innovation that precludes any simple recipe for success.

The 7th Africa Leadership Award took place in Le Meridien, Mauritius and brought together over 150 Senior Leaders under more than 40 award categories, considered crucial for the development of Africa, namely:  Africa CIO, Africa CSR, Africa Outsourcing, Africa Social Innovation and Africa Green Future Leadership Award etc.

The World Economic Forum predicts India and Africa to be shining stars and future economic development amongst various countries of the world. Growth opportunities for businesses in Africa and India are immense in several industry segments like: Banking, Telecom, Pharmaceuticals, Oil and Gas, Mining, Insurance Market, Travel and Tourism, BPO, IT, Agriculture, Manufacturing, and the Services Sector.
