At the invitation of Mahamane Ousmane, the Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, Hon. Ablie Suku Singhateh, National Assembly Member for Lower Baddibu, who is also an ECOWAS parliamentarian will join the regional body's monitoring team in the forthcoming elections in Togo.

Hon. Singhateh left Banjul yesterday to join other ECOWAS parliamentarians from the region to monitor the much-talked about elections.

Speaking to this paper in an interview shortly before his departure, Hon. Singhateh, who was also part of the ECOWAS monitoring team in the Ghanaian elections, said the ECOWAS parliamentarians will cover and monitor the elections with utmost sincerity.

According to him, they will monitor the whole process to ensure that peace and stability is maintained not only in Togo, but also the sub-region.

He commended the ECOWAS parliament, government and all Gambian parliamentarians for their trust and confidence in allowing him to participate in what he described as "a crucial mission."
