observing the annual Ecobank Day on the 5th of October 2019, the Ecobank Gambia
(Ltd.) over the weekend presented a cheque for D400, 000 towards the purchase
of medical equipment for the country’s main referral hospital.
The donation is meant to boost the ability of the hospital to effectively tackle non-communicable diseases in The Gambia. Ecobank Day is a community inspired day established as a corporate activity day across the 36 African countries where the bank holds presence. This year, the theme of the celebration was, “Take a step against non-communicable diseases”.
As part of the celebrations, Ecobank staff across the country on Saturday were led by the Police Band in marching from the National Assembly building to the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital in Banjul. At the hospital, they were joined by hospital staff, officials of the WHO country office and the Ministry of Health, to discuss matters around the effects of non-communicable diseases in The Gambia.
“At Ecobank Gambia, we work to improve the lives of our communities. Our Ecobank Day initiative speaks to our value that we attach to service. It is also a testament to the community spirit prevalent in The Gambia that we join with you, our customers, our partners and members of our community for a group of diseases that affect us all,” said Mr. Lamin Sanyang, Head of Operations and Technology, Ecobank Gambia.
