A Netherland philanthropist Anita Saho Buikema Sunday donated garden materials to Kiang Kenaba women gardeners in Lower River Region.

The donated items include wheelbarrows, garden forks, pumping machines, watering cans, spades, buckets and pesticides. This is the philanthropist’s third time of rendering valuable support to the community’s women gardeners.

Representing the community head (Alkalo) at the presentation, Ba Cherno Danso thanked the donor for her gesture, saying the donated materials would go a long way in improving garden production and productivity in the area.

Pakaya Ceesay, president of the women gardeners and former president Mba Jongfolo Ceesay, both lauded Anita for her gesture. “Anita has made a very significant intervention towards the development of our garden among them was her recent sponsorship of the digging of well and borehole at the garden,” Pakaya Ceesay divulged.

Presenting the items, Anita expressed delight in supporting the women gardeners, further acknowledging that virtually everything have been put in place for the Keneba women gardeners.

She appealed to the government to support the country’s women gardeners as they significantly contribute to national development through food security.
