Paul Dalenoord, a Dutch national, was on 13 August 2015 arraigned before Magistrate Kijera of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court for alleged purchasing of forged banknotes.

When the charge sheet was read to him, he accepted responsibility.

Prosecutors alleged that Paul Dalenoord, on 5 August 2015 at Britannia Bar and Restaurant in Senegambia in the Kanifing Municipality, had in his possession forged Gambian dalasi notes amounting to D8,500 of which D1,300 was in D100 denomination and D550 in D50 denomination, and thereby committed an offence.

Since he pleaded guilty to the charge, Magistrate Kijera remanded him, after the police prosecutor, Cadet Inspector Bojang, told the court that the banknotes were sent to the Central Bank for verification; and the printer used by the accused was not available in court to be tendered.

The case was adjourned to 20 August 2015, for facts and sentencing.

Prosecuting officer, Sergeant 544 Jaiteh, together with Cadet Inspector Bojang, represented the IGP.
