DUC wins 2nd edition of Olympafrica Center international volleyball

Sheikh Anta Jobe University Volleyball Club are double winners of the 2nd edition of Olympafrica Center International Volleyball Festival.

Sheikh Anta Jobe University Volleyball Club emerged the champions of the female category after defeating Ziguinchorr Volleyball Club by 3 sets to 2 set in the final on Sunday 11th April 2010, at the Serrekunda East Volleyball Lawn.

In the male category, Sheikh Anta Jobe University Volleyball Club emerged the winners after defeating Serrekunda East by 3 sets to 1 set in the final on Sunday 11th April 2010, at the Serrekunda East Volleyball Lawn.

The three days International Volleyball Festival, which started on Friday 9th April 2010, at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium, brought together nine Volleyball Clubs from The Gambia and Senegal.

The Gambia Volleyball Clubs that took part in the competition are Serrekunda East Volleyball Club Male and Female teams, Brikama Volleyball Club Male and Female teams, Interior Volleyball Club Female team and the Gambia Armed Forces Volleyball Club Male team, while the Volleyball Clubs from Senegal were Sheikh Anta Jobe University Volleyball Club Male and Female teams, Ziguinchorr Volleyball Club Male and Female teams, Sindian Volleyball Club Male and Female teams and Mbour Volleyball Club Male and Female teams.

Sheikh Anta Jobe University Volleyball Club, the winners of both the male and female categories of the competition received two trophies and certificates, while all the other Volleyball Clubs that took part in the competition also received certificates of appreciation.

The referees that officiated the competition were also awarded certificates, as well as The Gambia Fire and Ambulance Service and the Gambia Red Cross Society.
