Alagie Sillah, former national team coach, has said striker Mustapha Drammeh deserved a starting berth in The Gambia’s 2018 CHAN qualifiers first-leg tie at home to Mali at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

Former national team coach Sillah was speaking to reporters shortly after the home-based Scorpions goalless draw with Mali in the first-leg clash played on Saturday.

Sillah revealed that striker Mustapha Drammeh deserved to be given the starting berth, adding that he made a difference after his instruction in the second half.

Sillah further revealed that the performance of the team below expectations was changed by the introduction of striker Mustapha Drammeh, who boosted The Gambia’s attacking options.

Sillah stated that striker Mustapha Drammeh should have been given the starting berth, adding that he made a difference when he was injected in the second half.

Drammeh was the leading goal scorer for the 2016-2017 Gambia Football Federation domestic division one league season after netting 15 goals in twenty-two league matches but came on as a second half substitute in The Gambia’s 2018 CHAN qualifiers first-leg tie at home to Mali on Saturday.
