Adama Barrow will swear in the Executive Director of the Truth Reconciliation
and Reparation Commission, Dr. Baba Galleh Jallow tomorrow, today, 1st March
2018 at the State House at 10 am.
Dr Jallow holds a Ph. D in African History from the University of California at Davis, a Masters in Liberal Studies from Rutgers University, New Jersey, and a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science from Fourah Bay College, the University of Sierra Leone. He has taught African history at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska for five years and African and World history La Salle University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in the last two years. His research interests include the history of colonial and postcolonial Africa, press freedom, censorship and state formation in Africa, and Catholics and Social Justice in Africa. He has made a series of publications on leadership and politics. Before going into exile to the U.S. in September 2000, Dr. Jallow was assistant editor and editor-in-chief of the Daily Observer (1994-1999) and after that paper was bought by the Jammeh regime, he became the Co-Founder, CEO and Editor-in-Chief of The Independent newspaper in 1999 but was banned by the Jammeh regime in March 2006.
