DLEAG nabs man with suspected bag of cannabis

Operatives of the Drug Law Enforcement Agency, The Gambia (DLEAG) have arrested one Mustapha Jammeh with two bags of suspected drugs.

The suspect was arrested in Bundung by DLEAG operatives who were on their routine patrol within the Kanifing Municipality on the 1st of June around the hours of 1 a.m. in the morning. He is currently with the narcotics officers as investigation into the matter deepens.

The spokesperson of the DLEAG, Ousman Saidybah, has confirmed the development to our reporter, adding that there officers will not leave any stone un-turn in their quest to combat all forms of drugs and its related activities.

The suspect, he went on, was nabbed with two bags of the cannabis each containing ten bundles, making it a total of 20 bundles. He said that the bags of cannabis were found inside the kitchen of the suspect.

“As far as the DLEAG is concern, we will do everything possible in arresting the menace of drug related activities in the country,” he added, while acknowledging the fact that the agency cannot do it alone. He thus called for active participation for the general public in arrested the menace.

In a similar but separate development, PRO Saidybah, disclosed that 10 other people have been arrested in different places within the municipality for different offenses; ranging from possession of both prohibited and controlled drugs.

He called on the public to join the bandwagon in the crusade on drugs by reporting drug related activities and equally engaging the youths for them to leave the menace.
