ChildFund The Gambia affiliated federation -Ding Ding Yiriwa- in Kombo North
and South districts have provided back yard garden and educational materials to
20 families. The federation also gave ChildFund Dream bicycles to its enrolled
children at their office in Jambanjelly.
The materials include wheel barrows, watering cans, spades, barbed wires, hand forks, local sticks for fencing, hand trowels, laptops and school bag.
Officials of the Federation say the gesture will help boost both the nutritional needs of the families and enrolled childrens’ easy access to school.
Federation manager Alieu Mendy said the gesture will, in no small measure improve the economic and nutritional standard of the beneficiaries, particularly the deprived, excluded and vulnerable children.
He said they are committed to search for funding from various partners, including ChildFund The Gambia, to provide livelihood services to the deprived, vulnerable and excluded children.
ChildFund The Gambia country director Musukuta Komma appealed to beneficiaries to make the best use of the provided gesture, saying that will assist in the improvement of the childrens’ nutritional status and affordable access to schools.
“You are not only given the back yard garden materials to farm and sell your entire produce but it should also be your duty to share a greater proportion of the produce with your families for improved balance diet,” she said.
Board chairman Lamin Sanneh asked parents to actively participate in the sponsorship programmes of the Federation to help the office in stabilising its sponsorship status.
