Defeated PDOIS candidate resigns

Musa Ceesay, the defeated National Assembly candidate for Busumbala constituency for the People’s Democratic Organisation for Independence and Socialism (PDOIS) party has resigned from the party.

Mr Ceesay said his resignation followed Halifa Sallah’s recent comments against the coalition government during his European tour.

Speaking to The Point yesterday, Mr Ceesay lamented that Sallah was the spokesman of the coalition and was offered several positions in the new government, “but decided to turn down those positions.”

Mr Ceesay said his resignation from PDOIS is with “immediate effect” and believed that the new government would deliver to expectation and develop The Gambia.

“I am behind President Adama Barrow’s administration in their efforts to develop the country.”

According to him, it was too early for Hon. Sallah to dissociate himself from the coalition government, saying “what he wants is to see their downfall”.

For him, Halifa Sallah should come on board and participate in the national building rather than “spoiling the name of the government”.

Mr Ceesay called on all political parties to come together and work as one Gambia, one people and one nation rather than going to the diaspora to spoil the name of the coalition government.
