D500,000 bail bond for alleged thieves

Omar Cham, Alasanna Manjang, Abdoulie Nyang, and Ismalia Samateh, were recently arraigned at the Special Criminal Court charged with two counts of conspiracy and theft.

According to the particulars of offence on count one, between 17 June and 9 September 2011, at the Banjul International Airport, the accused persons conspired among themselves and stole gas oil, the property of the Gambia Civil Aviation Authority and thereby committed an offence.

The particulars of offence on count 2 stated that between 17 June and 9 September 2011, at the Banjul International Airport, the accused persons, while running a public office, stole gas oil, the property of the Gambia Civil Aviation Authority and thereby committed an offence.

They all denied the charges preferred against them and were each granted court bail of D500,000 with a Gambia surety with a landed property within the Greater Banjul Area.

The case was adjourned till 2 July 2012, for hearing.
