least D3M worth of bed sheets were recently distributed among 95 health
facilities across the country.
The items courtesy of one Sulayman Junkung Sawaneh, a Gambian based in Denmark, was part of contributing his quota to the country’s development endeavour.
The distribution exercise which began in NBR, CRR, URR, LRR and WCR wrapped up in the Greater Banjul area.
Briefing journalists at the end of the distribution exercise, Sawaneh informed that the initiative was his personal undertaking, pointing out that the bed sheets were purchased from his own money.
“I feel it is necessary to donate these items to clinics, health posts, major and minor health facilities and hospitals across the country in contributing my quota to national development.”
He thus urged the beneficiary institutions to use the materials for their intended purpose, saying as a Gambian, he wants to see the health facilities equipped with the much-needed items.
Sawaneh expressed his resolve to bring more relief materials in a bid to augment the country’s health facilities, acknowledging the fact that health is crucial to the development of any nation.
The items, he went on, were procured over D3M and that the donation was part of his philanthropic support to better the lives of Gambians.
“I will leave no community in this philanthropic exercise, particularly the areas of education and health. Let me at this juncture expressed my profound gratitude to all the recipients and my team of distributors.”
Sawaneh went on to thank The Gambian leader President Adama Barrow and his government for their pragmatic stance in improving the lives of Gambians.
He used the opportunity to call on other philanthropists within and outside the country to give a helping hand so as to better the lives of Gambians.
The beneficiary institutions expressed gratitude to Sulayman Junkung Sawaneh for what they described as his “timely intervention”.
They, however, appealed to Sawaneh to continue his humanitarian services to the needy, affirming that it is only Allah the Almighty that will reward him for his good deeds.
Sawaneh, who is a native of Jaba Kunda in the Lower Badibou District of the North Bank Region, over the years has been instrumental in supporting various sectors such as health and education, among others.
