Basse High Court presided over by Justice Simon A. Abi recently adjourned the
murder trial involving Fatou Marong, to October sitting for judgment.
The prosecution alleged that the accused, Fatou Marong, on 12 November 2016, at Fullakunda village in the Centra Region, unlawfully caused the death of one Sulayman Wanja (her brother-in-law) by stabbing him with a knife on the chest.
The prosecution led by state counsel L. Jarju called six witnesses and tendered exhibits such as the Autopsy report, the alleged murder weapon (knife), clothes stained with blood, the voluntary and cautionary statements of the accused to prove the charge.
The accused testified on her on behalf and called her younger sister, Jainaba Marong as witness in her defence.
After the close of the prosecution and defence cases, the presiding judge ordered that briefs be filed by the parties for adoption and judgment was set for October sitting.
