Court revokes accused persons' bail

The Kanifing Magistrates' Court, on 12 January 2011, revoked the bail condition earlier granted to Sally Gaye and Fatoumatta Ceesay, following their absence from court.

Magistrate Tabally revealed that the accused persons were absent from court and their whereabouts could not be traced.

He subsequently revoked their bail conditions and ordered a bench warrant for their arrest, saying they should be remanded in custody until the next hearing.

According to the particulars of offence, the accused persons on 13 September 2010, at Manist Restaurant, along

Kairaba Avenue
, jointly and unlawful assaulted one Sira Njie, by beating her all over her body with a belt.

Police Prosecutor Sona applied for an adjournment to enable her call witnesses. The case was subsequently adjourned till 17 January 2011.
