K Darboe, councilor of Kembujeh ward in Brikama North has vowed to stand by his
people at any given time and to share the little he got with them.
Presenting sanitary items to the maternity unit of his native community Gunjur health center on Tuesday, through his Foundation; Alieu K Darboe Charity Foundation, He said sharing with his fellow villagers is a joy for him and his family, friends and loved ones, saying this is the second time he is donating to maternity units, following a similar one to the Brikama District Hospital. The donated items include soap, gloves, detergent, bleaches, towels, wipers and hard and soft brooms.
“Both Gunjur and Brikama are my homes so donating to them is one of a joyous moment in my life. Even if I should die today, a legacy has been made in which I would always be remembered by my people.”
Mr. Darboe said as a local representative of the people, one of his functions is to promote grass root development; saying supporting the two health facilities was timely and commendable.
Fatoumatta Sumbundu, a registered nurse midwife commended Mr. Darboe for his humanitarian gesture and support, highlighting that the maternity unit was in urgent need of the donated items.
Hatab Jobe, chairman of Gunjur Development Association described the gesture as laudable and outstanding. “My brother’s gesture has shown to all that he is a type of person who deserve to be in this position,” he said.
