Kembujeh Ward Councilor in the Brikama North Constituency has vowed to support the well being of his people by working for their strategic interest to bring about worthy development for them.

Presenting some sanitary items to the maternity unit of his native Gunjur community hospital on Tuesday, Alieu K Darboe, said sharing with his fellow villagers brings him joy, saying this is the second time he is making such donations, following a similar one he made to the Brikama district hospital maternity unit.

Councilor Darboe provided the humanitarian assistance to the hospital after raising fund through his Alieu K Darboe Charity Foundation in honour of his birthday on 7th March 2019. The donated items include soap, gloves, detergent, bleaches, towels, wipers and hard and soft brooms.

He said as a local representative of the people, one of his functions is to promote grass root development, saying supporting the two health facilities was timely and commendable.

Fatoumatta Sumbundu, a registered nurse midwife who deputised for the officer-in-charge of the hospital commended Mr. Darboe for the humanitarian gesture and support, highlighting that the maternity is in urgent need of support, including the donated items.

Hatab Jobe, chairman of Gunjur Development Association described the gesture as laudable and outstanding, saying the items donated are worthy items. “This gesture has shown to all that he is a type of person who really deserve to be in this position,” he said.
