Comium GSM Company has been awarded best GSM taxpayer of 2017 by The Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA) during its 3rd edition of taxpayers’ award and recognition held at Paradise Suite hotel last Friday.

The award ceremony was attended by senior government officials including vice president Ousainou Darboe, finance minister Mamburay Njie and environment minister. It was also attended by the business community,  staff and management of GRA.

The company’s accounting manager Michael Ellis said the award was a reflection of the commitment of the management in fulfilling it tax obligation, saying Comium is not only providing internet services but also paying its tax obligation on time as Gambia is a tax-based economy.

“I don’t believe that Comium received the award out of luck. We received it because of our commitment in fulfilling our tax obligation,” he said, and added “it is our duty to pay taxes regularly and on time.”

Mr. Ellis further stated that the award was a testimony of what Comium have been doing and an indication to their subscribers that Comium is not only providing services to the public but it is also tax compliant.  “The management of Comium is proud of the award. We value it and thank GRA management for recognising our effort as most tax compliant.”

He assured that they will continue to lead in tax payment, saying their biggest achievement is the best services they provide to their customers which, he said the majority of Gambians do not know about.
