National U-17 team players screening exercise has been completed at the FIFA
Goal Project in Old Yundum, West Coast Region.
Thirty (30) players are currently taking instructions from Coach Abdoulie Bojang and his coaching staff following a weeklong screening exercise. A mandatory MRI test will be conducted on the players soon prior to the competition proper in Senegal in September.
Their training has been boosted with the attendance of former Gambian internationals Ousman Jallow, Mustapha Jarju alias Toubabo and Omar Jassey alias Waterman, who joins the lads on daily basis.
The Gambia won Africa U-17 Youth Championship twice in 2005 after beating Ghana 1-0 in the final played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau and 2009 following their convincing win 3-1 over host nation Algeria in the final played in Algiers.
