The Gambia in partnership with Zinus Company have donated 4000 mattresses and
4000 beds to ChildFund affiliated Federations through their Gift in Kind
program to improve the lives of
deprived, excluded and vulnerable children in The Gambia.
From the total package, Saama Kairo Federation in Kombo East and Central received 900, Ding Ding Bantaba in Foni received 816, Ding Ding Yiriwa received 500, Central River Region received 250, North Bank Region received 250, Armitage Senior Secondary School received 434 and Gambia Teachers’ Union received 600.
Program and sponsorship director of ChildFund Nfamara Daboe said the donation is part of Gift in Kind program deliverable to Deprived, Excluded and Vulnerable (DEV) children, their families and the larger society. He said from 2012 to date, ChildFund The Gambia has received shoes, books, medical equipment and clothing that were given to vulnerable children, families and communities.
Mr. Darboe said in 2017, ChildFund conducted a review of the program to bring more useful items that gave them the opportunity to acquire the 4000 mattresses and beds in new, portable and quality conditions.
He added that the Gift in Kind program provides them the opportunity to reach out to more people. “It supports non-resource programs that equally impact the lives of children and also expand ChildFund’s coverage area from West Coast Region to countrywide.”
He assured that ChildFund will continue to build stronger partnership with The Gambia government and other key stakeholders in creating conducive environment for life, survival and development of children.
