Captain Pa Modou Jagne doubtful of Algeria AFCON clash

Thursday, March 07, 2019

Gambia senior national team captain Pa Modou Jagne is doubtful of the country’s crucial 22 March, 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier clash against Algeria in Blida province.

Gaffer Tom Saintfiet will unveil his squad on Friday 15th March at the Football House in Kanifing and will be without his team leader, who is currently nursing injury. The FC Zürich defender has been sidelined for some weeks and has missed the club’s past eleven games.

His last feature for the Swiss Super League side was on December 2nd in their 2-0 win over Grasshopper Club Zurich.

Algeria have already secured qualification to the continent’s bi-annual football tournament to be hosted in Egypt later this year. They are currently topping group D with 10 points after five group games and Benin are second with 7 points in five group matches.

Gambia and Togo have both bagged 5 points each after five group matches but the Hawks are leading the Scorpions on goal difference.
