Campama LBS wins cricket championship

Campama Lower Basic School (girls) was recently crowned as knockout champions of Banjul in the lower basic school championship played at McCarthy Square.

They played Wesley Lower Basic School in the final and scored 52 runs in 15.2 overs and 10 wickets in the first inning. Wesley scored 32 runs in 11.5 overs and 10 wickets in the second inning.

Mariama Ndong of Campama scored the highest runs. She scored 10 runs whilst Adama Saho took the highest wickets of 3. Campama won the match by 20 runs for 10 wickets and 52 runs.

In the male category, Albion Lower Basic School emerged winner. They played Wesley Lower Basic School in the final of the knockout competition. Albion scored 72 runs in 15 overs and 7 wickets in the first inning whilst Wesley scored 47 runs in 13.2 overs 10 wickets.

Ali Jatta of Albion scored 15 runs and Mustapha Jawara from the same school took the highest wickets Albion won by 25 runs for 7 wickets and 72 runs.

The respective finals were action galore in Banjul and Kanifing Municipality as the Regional Inter-school Cricket championships draws to a conclusion.

The finals of the Lower Basic Schools competition for both boys and girls in Banjul were played on Tuesday 28th May and Wednesday 29th May respectively, at the McCarthy Square whilst the Upper Basic final took center stage on Thursday 31st May 2018.

The marathon of final was completed on Friday 1st June 2018 at the Serrekunda East mini stadium.
