chairperson of Gambia Hotel Association (GHA) and general manager of one of the
country’s leading hotels, Senegambia is now the chairman of the Gambia Hotel
Association (GHA) following the expiry of the Malleh Sallah led executive
Bunama Njie was elected chairman of the association at a congress held at Lemon Creek hotel at Senegambia.
Mr. Njie thanked the former executive for paving the way for him and his executive, saying Gambia’s tourism sector development should be the business of all. He said they would do their best to maintain the sector’s importance and to be recognised as the biggest employer in the Gambia and second highest GDP provider at about 18-20 percent.
“GHA should be in the forefront of all tourism related activities and even non-tourism related. This is because of certain linkages that tourism has with other sectors like agriculture, banking and poultry.”
According to him, they have short, mid and long-term plans to move the association and to keep it functioning, saying he relies on a very good team to move the association forward.
According to Mr. Njie, there are lots of strategies that need to be put in place to ensure that they are able to cope with the demand. “We will work to make the Association visible in the international world.”
