Bubacarr Sanneh: I came to Anderlecht to develop my career

Gambian international defender Bubacarr Sanneh, who moved away from Danish champions FC Midtjylland to sign a-five-year contract with Belgian giants RSC Anderlecht said he signed for Anderlecht to develop his professional career.

Defender Sanneh, Monday left Danish champions FC Midtjylland to sign a five year contract with Belgian giants RSC Anderlecht. The 23-year-old joined Anderlecht for a Belgian record fee for a defender of €8m.

The Scorpions defender, who only joined Midtjylland in January 2018 from AC Horsens for €200,000, further said that he leaves the Scandinavian country after four years to seek for new adventure in Brussels. “I am happy with this move to this great club. Anderlecht is a club known for giving youngsters the chance to shine; that’s why I decided it was time to come here and start a new adventure,” he said.

He thanked Matthew; Rasmus, the entire Board, Management, Staff and everyone associated with FC Midtjylland for opening the doors of the Club to him and as well helping him create good memories at the club. “I want to publicly thank you and the entire Coaching Staff for all the incredible opportunities I have been given and to my amazing teammates,” adding that it’s a great environment and structure here in Anderlecht, while looking forward to linking up with new teammates and help the club in achieving its goals and ambitions for the season and years ahead. 

Anderlecht sporting director Luc Devroe said that after lengthy negotiations, they are very pleased to have been able to complete this important transfer on the last day of the transfer window.

The 6ft 0in defender who is given the number 4 jersey, previously occupied by Senegal international Kara Mbodji was on Sunday given his debut match after been introduced as substitute in 82nd minute during Anderlecht 1-1 scoreline against Royal Antwerp at the Stade Constant Vanden Stock.
