Buba Jallow, alias 'Melez', has said that he is happy as the captain of the Under-17 team to help the Baby Scorpions to qualify for the 9th Edition of the African  CADET youth championship to be held in Rwanda next year.

Jallow poured his heart to reporters shortly after the Baby Scorpions 1-0 win against Tunisia in the final game of the qualifiers on Saturday at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

He says this is the happiest moment of his life to help both the Under-17 and the Under-20 to qualify for their respective competitions, adding that any time he plays for his country he plays with all his heart and gives out his best.

'Malez', as he is widely called, also thanked his mother, who has always been there for him. "I want to thank my mother because it is as a result of her support to me that I am here today," he said.

He also said that for both national sides to qualify was a difficult task but with the help of the Almighty God, the coaches and his teammates they had made it.

In Tunisia, he noted, he capitalised on his speed and on the lack of knowledge of the Tunisian defenders about him, which contributed to him scoring two quick goals in Tunis.

He added that in The Gambia, it was not that easy to score since the opponents had already known him, as he was under tight marking throughout the game.

He also believes that in football sometimes a striker can play very well but can't score.

The Saturday triumph over Tunisia has earned the U-17 a place in Rwanda 2011.
