As Annual Event Heats Up

Barely a few weeks to the 15th edition of the annual Brufut Marathon Run in December, the Brufut Marathon Run Association (BMRA) is gaining support from partners in sports development, geared towards its community development initiatives.

The latest is from the Friends of the Gambia Association who presented a set of trophies and medals with a cheque for D 18,000 to the association yesterday, at its office in Kotu.

Ba Jabbi, the Chairman of BMRA commended FOTGA for receiving their usual support towards the event. He said the Friends of the Gambia are very committed and in support of sports.

"With their very determined efforts, we wish to thank them for receiving these valuables from them and also pledge our support to their mission which is to help Gambians," he stated.

Ousainou Joof, who also spoke at the occasion, on behalf of FOTGA said the move is part of the Friends of the Gambia Association's role in support of sports.

The marathon, which is billed to take place on Saturday 12th December 2009, will have races for male, female and children categories ranging from 15, 8 and 1kilo metres, respectively and 42 kilometres cycling race.

Recently, John Carter on behalf of the sponsors of the Tallinding Project also gave two hundred pounds as part of their contributions to the marathon association.

David Smith, former Chairman of FOTGA, Jeff Phillip, Alieu Jarju Financial Director of BMRA, and Seedy Bojang BMRA's Executive Director attended the ceremony.
