Two British philanthropists, in collaboration with their partners the Faith Deliverance Church in Bijilo recently made a handsome donation of medical items to Serrekunda Health Centre.

Jean Beilly and Mary Hammond donated, among others, blood pressure cuff, stethoscope, bandages, gloves and baby jackets.

Speaking at the handing over ceremony, Jean Beilly, a nurse in the UK said the donation might be small, but would be useful to the beneficiaries.

"We have brought these small but important quantity to help the needy. We have partnered with Faith and Deliverance Church, who shall help bring things for hospitals in The Gambia. The need is great but we shall play our part," she said.

Mary Hammond said they would not relent in searching for help from their side. She said they would be coming back soon with a bigger consignment of medical equipment.

"We shall continue to knock on doors for help to come with containers," she said.

Pastor Abel Conteh of the Faith and Deliverance Church reiterated the need for their amalgamation so that more aid would come easily through their church for the needy.

He commended the two philanthropists for their efforts over the years.
