Brikama Resident Charged with Shop Breaking

One Omar Touray a native of Brikama, was on Monday arraigned at the Brikama Magistrates' court charged with shop breaking and stealing contrary to section 283 and 252 of the criminal code.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him. However, the circumstances of the offence revealed that the accused on or about 2nd April 2009, at the Brikama Market broke and entered in the shops of Alpha Sarjo Baldeh, Amadou Kalleh Jallow and Modou Baldeh with intent to steal.  

The accused was also charged for stealing from the following people Alpha Sarjo Baldeh sum of DD750, Amadou Kalleh Jallow D350 and Modou Baldeh D150 from the respective complainants.

When the charge was read and interpreted to the accused in the language he understood he pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The court granted the accused bail of D20, 000 with two Gambian sureties.
