Association New York Inc.; an association of Brikama natives in the United
States of America has donated eighty bags of rice to Brikama Council of Imams,
Alkalolus and Chiefs as Muslims month of Ramadan commences.
Speaking at the handing over at the Brikama Central Mosque on Monday, the Association’s adviser Alagie Drammeh said such move is what is required of people to remember their people no matter how far they are from their communities.
Governor of West Coast Region Bakary Sanyang said the month of Ramadan is an important and blessed month in the Muslim calendar, saying Holy Prophet Muhammad has promised that whoever fed Muslims during the month will receive abundant reward from Allah.
Mr. Sanyang said Brikama is a lucky community, whose sons and daughters in the diaspora always give support, telling the community heads that it is not easy to live in a foreign land. He commended the Association for the gift, praying for Allah to reward them abundantly
Head Imam of Brikama Sankung Touray prayed for Allah to grant the Association the strength to do more for the community, saying the entire people of Brikama appreciate their gesture.
Chief of Kombo Central Jammeh K.K. Bojang said the Association has been supporting the community of Brikama because they knew that no matter how long they stayed outside their country, they will come back one day.
The Association’s representative in The Gambia Ebrima Cham said the Association was registered in New York as a non-profit and non-political organisation in October 2015 with members in seven American states. “Our target areas are sports, health, education and many others.”
