Brikama District Hospital receives more boost

Brikama district hospital have been boosted again with the latest donation from Gambia-England based twin philanthropies Adama and Awa Camara who provided mattresses, wheelbarrows, bed sheets, working sticks and clothes to the hospital this week.

The twins’ say they have the aim to help health facilities in The Gambian and needy communities.  The donors’ family handed the materials to the hospital management on Tuesday.

On Monday, a Latrikunda-based humanitarian charity Kerr Ode Foundation also donated baby wears, bleaches, feeding bottles, soaps, clothing and detergents to the hospital, calling it their contribution to the development of the country’s healthcare system.

Officer-in-charge of the hospital Lamin Sanyang thanked Adama and Awa for the gesture and appealed for more philanthropic assistance to the hospital. “I assure you that these materials will be responsibly managed and will be put in to good use.”

Alagie S. Darboe, National Assembly Member for Brikama north said the donated materials would ease accommodation of patients. He called on other citizens to emulate the good initiative of Adama and Awa.

Pa Ansumana Ceesay, a relative of the donors said the twins have being in the humanitarian service for long. “If you are out of the country and you decide to help your people back home, I think that is a good idea,” he said.

Jiboroh ward councilor Ousman Bah and Lamin Drammeh, a family member of the donors both stressed the need for more people to find ways in contributing to nation building by assisting the needy.
