Lamin Jallow a 15-year-old grade nine student at SoS Children’s Village in
Bakoteh has emerged as winner of the 2018 Gambia Chamber of Commerce and
Industry’s (GCCI) raffle draw.
GCCI officials say Momodou Lamin was among the first people to buy the ticket at the recently concluded GCCI organised trade fair at the Independence Stadium in Bakau. The new Mercedes C-Class 200 Benz was presented to him at the GCCI office.
Momodou Jagana, the GCCI president said the raffle is part of celebrations marking GCCI’s 50th year anniversary. “I am happy that a young boy who was at the GCCI trade fair convinced his mother to buy the ticket and this is the outcome.”
He appealed to Gambian business men and women to join GCCI to be part of the business community in order to create job and develop local content. He expressed optimism that such kind of initiatives will continue.
Momodou Lamin’s father, Kutobo Keita, a staff of Africell thanked GCCI for fulfilling its promise, while describing the event as a great day to his family. “Since we bought the ticket to date, we never expected a single call neither to win the car. It was a drama in my compound when we were called from GCCI to tell us about Momodou Lamin winning the car.”
