Kindergarten Bottrop on Thursday received a forty foot container full of
learning materials donated by the Bottrop project and a school bus by OHG, a
sister school in Bottrop, Germany.
The donated items includes first aid items, computers, desktops, printers, tables, chairs, filling carbine, early childhood learning materials and bicycles among others.
In receiving the container at the school grounds, the project coordinator Pa Haruna Jagana, expressed delight over the gesture, saying the donation was part of Bottrop and OHG strategic programmes to support education in The Gambia.
He said the learning materials will enable kids to have fun, which he said plays an important role and helps in proper development of children.
Jagana maintained that the project main goal is to sustainably ensure that Gambian children have access to quality and better education from nursery level to higher education as well as improve the socio-economic condition of the people of Gambia.
He thus thanked OHG for donating the school bus as well as building a modern Kitchen for the school, while expressing optimism that the donated materials would go a long way in complementing government efforts and others stakeholders in enhancing education.
The school teachers, Lamin Jabang and Kaddy Sanneh said that the early years of every child are very important in their education, thus the experience and the learning of a child in early years can support them in their entire life.
According to the duo, children develop rapidly during this time be it physically, intellectually, socially and emotionally.
The donated learning materials, they said, will give children the opportunity to experience the very best possible start to their education.
A former Brikama Area Councilor, Pa Amadou Manneh commended the donor for their humanitarian gesture and their tremendous support in the education sector.
