Bob Powel, a Uruguayan resident in the Netherlands, on Monday 24 June 2013 donated medical materials to Serrekunda Health Centre.

The donated items included two boxes of dressing materials, one box of medicines and a box of reflectors shirts.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony held at the Serrekunda Health Centre, the Alkalo of Serrekunda, Alhagie Sidi Jobe, said Bob Powel had been supporting Serrekunda for 15 years, adding that the donated items would aid in their quest for quality healthcare delivery.

Aja Ndey Ceesay, officer-in-charge of the Serrekunda Health Centre, commended the donor for the gesture, saying Serrekunda Health Centre is a large health centre and by virtue of its strategic location it attracts many people.

The regional principal public health Officer, Sajo Darboe, in his remarks, said the donation would complement government’s efforts in the health sector and seized the opportunity to thank the donors for the laudable gesture.

Other speakers on the occasion included Serrekunda Ward councillor Alieu Maudo Sallah, Ward Development Committee chairman Ousman Almamo Darboe and Serrekunda Health Centre’s official Gibril Tamba, all of whom expressed similar sentiments.
