Boost for Banjul United

Banjul United received a boost of new football jerseys, football socks, gloves and balls from Yankuba Vermeulen from Holland on Sunday.

Mr. Vermeulen, Manager of Gambia Sport Foundation and Sportswears for Gambia, speaking at the presentation, said he was delighted to donate the items to the team, adding that he sponsors Banjul United as well as other teams in need of help.

Landing Sanneh, President of Banjul United Football Club, for his part, said they really appreciated the gesture and hoped to strengthen their relationship with Mr. Vermeulen.

Any person willing to help the team, made up of young promising footballers, is highly welcomed, he said, adding that they would make best use of the items.

In the same vein, on Saturday, in the Banjul Nawetaan proper played at the Gambia Senior Secondary School field, Makann Bi FC beat Glouster United by 1-0 in the 10:30am encounter.

Ousman Cham scored from the penalty spot in the 68th minute of the game.

Revelation FC triumphed over Jamesen FC by 1-0. The goal was scored by Alhagi Lai in the 73rd minute of the game in the 3pm encounter.

Plumbi FC defeated Marcus FC by a goal to nil in the 5pm encounter, with the penalty opportunity scored by Kebba Faye in the 70th minute of play.
