Kunda football team emerged as winners of the female category while for male
category, Red Kunda football team emerged as champions of St James lower basic
school inter-house football tournaments.
Both football teams were each awarded with a giant trophy. Four Kundas participated in the tournament namely, Red, Blue, White and Green.
The best player, best coach and the youngest player were all awarded with medals.
The Principal of St. James Lower Basic School in Kitty West Coast Region (WCR) assured of promoting grassroots sports of all kinds in his institution.
Simon S. Jatta was speaking to our reporter last week during the finals of the inter-kunda football tournaments organised by his school as a way of promoting grassroots football.
“We want to show our sister schools within urban areas that we at the rural area can participate in sports as they,” Principal Jatta stated.
Jatta praised his hardworking teaching staff for the successful football tournament they organised, adding that all were made possible through understanding and corporation between the school administration, teachers and students.
One of the teachers at St. James Lower Basic School, Dominic Mendy thanked all those who contributed to the success of the tournament.
“This is all about scouting out best footballers from the grassroots level and as a school, we will continue to organise more sporting events under our able Principal Simon S. Jatta’s leadership,” Mendy promised.
