of The Gambia Swimming Association (GSA) over the weekend elected Bintou Huma
as president of the Association for the next four years.
Held at the University of The Gambia Faculty of Law, the election was in line with the Association’s constitution and was convened following the resignation of former president Kadijah Njie-Sanusi in 2017.
Mrs. Huma appealed to the Association’s general assembly struggle for more women occupants of key positions in the executive board in the near future. “I cannot do it alone in achieving all the strategic goals of the association if we do not work as an effective team.”
Meanwhile, the Association’s general assembly also unanimously voted for the expulsion of both the treasurer Gibril Sanneh and his assistant David Jeng who, according to the assembly failed to perform their executive responsibilities despite being officially warned many times, as per the dictates of GSA constitution.
Musa Manneh, who deputised the Kanifing Municipality sports chairman, welcomed the composition of the executive board, saying the members are all qualified graduates in different fields of studies.
He urged them to adhere to good conduct of behaviour and respect global standards in good sports governance.
The new executive board is led by Bintou Huma as president, Muhammed Bittaye as vice president administration and finance, Habiballah Jeng as vice president technical and Cherno MS Jallow as treasurer.
The position of auditor, assistant treasurer and technical director were all removed from the reviewed constitution as executive positions.
