Tunisian Ligue Professionnelle 1 side Club Olympique de Médenine have completed
the signing of Scorpions defender Lamin ‘Basmen’ Samateh on a free transfer,
Gambia Sports can confirm.
The 25-year-old Gambia international, who has been a free agent since leaving Slovakian side FC ViOnZlatéMoravce in 2015, pens a two-year contract with Médenine.
The former Steve Biko, NK Lokomotiva Zagreb and Kuopion Palloseura defender impressed coach Afouène Gharbi and his staff while on trial before he was offered a deal that would see him stay at the club until 2019.
The 6ft1in defender is expected to make his debut on Saturday when the team hosts CA Bizertin, who reportedly have Alieu Darbo in their ranks.
CO Médenine gained promotion to the Tunisian top-flight last season after finishing third on the standings before winning their promotion play-off match 2-0 against AS de La Marsa in June.
They play their home matches at the 6000-capacity Stade Olympique Salaheddine-Ben Hmida, located in the south-east of Tunisia.
