international striker, Musa Barrow have scored his first Serie A goal of the
season as Atalanta defeated relegated threatened Genoa 2-1 in a game played at
the Mapei Stadium on Saturday.
The former Hawks FC player who started on the bench opened his scoring account for the Black and White after striking in the 46th minute to end the goal drought. Timothy Castagne doubled their lead in the 53rd minute, with Genoa’s Goran Pandev’s late goal serve as a mere consolation for the visiting team.
The 20-year-old Gambian striker who has not found the back of the net in his previous 20 outings now scored five goals this season, with four of those strikes coming in the Europa League.
As they are pushing for a Champions League spot, Atalanta currently occupies 3rd position on the table with 65 points, 2 points above 4th place Inter Milan who have a game-in-hand.
Nerazzurri and the Orobic are also 8 points behind 2nd place Napoli and 24 points behind champions Juventus.
Barrow, also call ‘Printo’ will hope to add to his tally against Lazio in the Coppa Italian final and league leaders Juventus on Wednesday and next Sunday respectively.
