Banjul Utd beats Steve Biko to keep 100% record in GFF 1st Domestic league

Banjul United on Saturday defeated Steve Biko 2-1 in the week-two fixture played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau to maintain their hundred percent record in the 2017-2018 Gambia Football Federation domestic division one league.

The Banjul football club came into the game with the maximum three points, after winning their opening league match against Bombada prior to their weekend tie with Steve Biko.

The Bakau giant killers were held to a 1-all by Tallinding United in their opening league fixture before their weekend clash with Banjul United.

Goals from Omar Jaiteh and Abdoulie Sanneh were enough to earn the Banjul-based football club their successive win in the country’s top flight.

The defeat was Bakau’s first-ever defeat in the country’s top flight league season, after their 1-1 draw with Tallinding United in their opening league fixtures.

Marimoo came from one nil down to draw 1-1 with Hawks at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

Gambia Armed Forces beat the newly-promoted side 2-1 at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium.

Brikama United and Bombada fixture was called off due to darkness when Brikama United were leading two nil at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium on the same day.

Elsewhere, Real De Banjul beat Tallinding United 2-1 on Sunday at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium to bounce back in the league, after losing to Marimoo 1-0 in their opening league fixtures.

Banjul United is currently leading the standings with maximum 6 points in two matches and Gambia Armed Forces is second with 4 points after two matches.

Marimoo are third with 4 points in two league games and Real De Banjul are fourth with 3 points in after two matches.

Brikama United, Gambia Ports Authority, Fortune FC, Steve Biko, Hawks and Tallinding United all have a single point each.

Bombada are rock bottom with zero point, after slipping to Banjul United in their opening fixture.
