Banjul Nawettan update

The Canon Sponsored Banjul League Nawettan competition games continue to be interesting as fans remain committed in cheering their teams and players in support of their aims and targets in the tournament.

The Banjul zone are playing their Nawettan competition featuring 18 teams across the City’s biggest football tournament.

On Wednesday 4th September, Ngoyan FC defeating Lancaster United by a lone goal to nil in their second Group B encounter played at the Banjul KG5 Mini-stadium. Lancaster United has now registered two consecutive defeats after been earlier beaten 1-0 by Juventus during the opening of the Nawettan, while Ngoyan has just played their first match in the tournament.

On Thursday, in the Group B game, Juventus were held to a goalless draw by the veterans of Banjul All Stars.  Juventus has now collected four points in two games after winning their opening encounter against Lancaster United, while All Stars collected one point in two games after they were defeated by Firehouse in their opening encounter.

On Saturday, FC Warriors stunned Makann Bi with 2-0 score-line in second Group D encounter. The Warriors in-form finisher, Dembo Bojang scored both goals for his side in the 67th and 73rd minutes respectively to register two consecutive wins for his side after defeating Late Ebou Sowe (Heart of Banjul) by the same score-line (2-0) in the second encounter of Group D played on Monday.

On Sunday, Ajax beat Dieggo FC 1-0 in top Group C after two matches.  Kissema Manneh scored the game’s only goal in the 39th minute of the first half.

The win sends Ajax top of Group C with four points in two games after drawing 1-1 in their opening game with the Super Cup finalist Jamesen, while Dieggo FC has three points after defeating Tesito 1-0 in their opening encounter.

On Monday, Late Ebou Sowe (Heart of Banjul) thumped Black Diamond in a 2-0 score-line after 90th minute to put more pressure on Black Diamond in the Canon sponsored Banjul Nawettan.

Jimmeh Magasuba scored both goals for Heart of Banjul team in the 8th and 11th minutes respectively to send Late Ebou Sowe FC to second position in Group D after registering three points in two games as they lost their opening game against Warriors.

Black Diamond FC has only one point so far after drawing 1-1 in their opening game against Makkann Bi FC.
