The Canon Sponsored Banjul league Nawettan competition is gaining momentum at the country’s city zone as fans from different parts of the Banjul zone would come to support and cheer their players and teams.
The start of the Nawettan has seen cracking games as Juventus became the first team to collect the maximum point in the Nawettan proper after defeating Lancaster United 1-0 in the first Group B game, played at the KG-5 Mini-stadium.
Firehouse FC also beat All Stars FC by a lone goal to nil in the second Group B encounter, to make a bright start of the season. Makann Bi FC shared the points with Black Diamond after a 1-1 score-line in the first Group D match.
The Super Cup finalist, Jamesen also shared the point with Ajax in their opening Group C game after a 1-1 regulation score-line. Sainey Cole scored for the Knockout winners, Jamesen while Ousman Badjie scored for Ajax.
Deggo FC beat Tesito 1-0 in the second Group C encounter played on Saturday in which Gibril Faal scored the game’s only goal for Deggo FC.
Revelation FC also defeated Jantabi 2-0 in the opening game of Group A, played on Sunday, while Warriors FC also beat Late Ebou Sowe (Heart of Banjul) by the same score-line (2-0) in the second encounter of Group D played on Monday.
London City beat the Banjul Super Cup champions, MacDonal United 1-0 in the Group A second game played on Tuesday. At the time of going to press on Wednesday, Ngoyan FC were playing against Lancaster United in the second game of round two of Banjul Nawettan.
