BAC hands over Rehabilitated Road Network to Old Yundum community

The Management of the Brikama Area Council (BAC) in partnership with Royal Construction Company on Thursday 28th June 2019, handed over the rehabilitated road Network linking from the Old Yundum police station to the Alkalo of the Village

The Brikama Area Council spend over half a million dalasi  in the rehabilitation of the said road Network which was all gear toward plying back to the community in the form of  project and program.

 The said road was a long time cause for concern in getting access to Old yundum market  and there is no doubt that with this new rehabilitation , this road will go a long way in addressing the issues transports  from the old yundum village to coastal road.

Speaking at the handing over on behalf of the Alkalo, Modou jarsey welcome the management and staff of BAC officially handing over this new rehabilitated road Network for his community.

 He described this event  a special one in the history calendar of the old yundum village considering the nature of this road then during the rainy season , women suffered a lot to have access to health facilities, market  but thanked to the timely intervention of the BAC and their VDC.

 He went further to praised the Management of  BAC for their   timely intervention . He said BAC worthy of commendable for this intervention. “We are grateful to you and your t staff for this support. “We have seen your firmed commitment toward the welfare of our community”,

He added that  water , toilets and access Road  is now the thing of the past thanked to the management of the BAC.  He stated.

Adama Jallow Head of Yai compin , also expressed total appreciation  to the entire management of the BAC  for their timely intervention , saying that this road was a cause for concern  but with the intervention of BAC, now the community of old yundum and its catchmen res are enjoying  good road network .

 She also used the opportunity to thanked the contractor  the Royal  construction  company for the commitment  demonstrated  during the rehabilitation of this Road within a short period of time.

. She further advise the drivers to minimise their speed limit to avoid accident  within the area.

Also speaking the Ward Councillor , Alhagie Sowe ,  expressed similar sentiment and thank the Management of BAC  and the contractor for the commitment they have shown  toward the rehabilitation of this road,. We are saying Bravo to BAC management for their dedication and hard work.

For his part the contractor Abdou Sowe  expressed delight to work in partnership with BAC  and the Old yundum VDC . He said , he will continue to do his almost best  to work for the development of this country , while assuring that his doors are open for everyone who need the development of our community.

 He recognized the effort of the VDC and by extension thanked the Management of BAC for the partnership  and support toward the rehabilitation of this road. .

Chairman Brikama Area Council, (BAC) Sherifo Sonko , acknowledged the effort of the contractor for successful completion of the rehabilitation Work within a frame time.

He said the rehabilitation of this road was possible due to the fact that it was the Old yundum VDC  converged at his office seeking for support , and as a result considering the nature of the road , BAC  deem it very fitting to  consider their plight as taxpayers to provide assistance  amounting to over five hundred thousand toward the rehabilitation of this road in partnership with Royal construction company.

The Chairman went on to said all this development cannot be attain without people paying their rates and taxes to the council.  He said the money taxpayers paid  60 percent of its is suppose to plough back to the them in the form of development project and program.

 He said payment of rates and taxes  is very important but one thing he realised is that the people of WCR are reluctant  to pay rates and taxes.

 According to him the people of WCR are not ready to pay their rates and taxes obligation which will have a negative impact in implementing government development program.

 He said none payment of rates and taxes are great concern to the BAC  as the council alone cannot address to the need and aspiration of their electorates without taxes and rates been paid.

Therefore, the Chairman of BAC called on the need for people to change their attitudes toward paying their rates and taxes and on time.  We cannot avert payment of rates and taxes if we are to develop this country.

. For his part the Chief Executive Officer BAC Mam Sait Jallow also commended the contractor  for his firmed commitment  during the rehabilitation of this horrible road network. He cited the cordial relationship between the Royal construction company and his office , which has been on going for a while.  He also paised the Old Yundum VDC for  their smooth cooperation with his office to ensure that this rehabilitation exercise is completed within a frame time.  Mr. Jallow also challenges the Taxpayers to pay their tax obligation and on time without which the council cannot afford to bring development to their doorstep. Mr. Jallow further used the opportunity to advised the drivers to drawn great attention to the usage of the road particularly the truck drivers.
