APRC, NRP to battle for Janjanbureh seat

The ruling APRC party and the National Reconciliation Party (NRP) have thrown their hats into the ring for the Janjanbureh seat come 12 March 2015, when a by-election will be held in the constituency.

The Janjanbureh by-election is necessitated by the demise of Honourable Foday Jabani Manka, the erstwhile National Assembly Member of Janjanbureh constituency.

According to the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), Ebrima M. Sarjo has been nominated to contest through the APRC party ticket, and Kebba Yorro Manneh through the NRP ticket for the position of National Assembly Member for Janjanbureh Constituency.

“In accordance with Sections 42 and 52 of the Elections Act, Mr Ebrima M. Sarjo has been duly nominated through the APRC Party ticket to contest for the position of National Assembly Member for Janjanbureh Constituency. For the same constituency, Mr Kebba Yorro Manneh has also been nominated through the NRP for the position of National Assembly Member,” stated a press release from the IEC signed by its Chairman Mustapha L. Carayol.

“Consequently,” the release said further, “an election will take place in accordancewith Section 53, subsection (2) (a) of the same Elections Act in order to fill the position of National Assembly Member for Janjanbureh Constituency on Thursday 12 March 2015.”
